EDMUS history
EDMUS 1 and 2
Originally conceived by Prof. Christian Confavreux (now head of the Service de Neurologie A, Hôpital Neurologique, Lyon) during the preparation of his medical thesis, the EDMUS software project started in 1990 as a result of the collaboration of Christian Confavreux for the medical aspects, Albert Biron, computer scientist, and Jean-Marc Azerad, software developer.
The software was first presented in 1992 to the scientific community:

EDMUS 3
The development of version 3 of EDMUS was decided in 2000.
A wide international collaboration then started to define the goals and various aspects of EDMUS 3. Several working groups were created, each one being in charge of designing the new version of a specific part of the software:

Following the ECTRIMS congress of September 2001 in Dublin, a prototype was adopted, the schedule of conditions written out and validated. These preliminary phases were led by Mr. Albert Biron, who had managed previous versions of the EDMUS software, and had been the driving force behind the EDMUS system for many years. Mr. Biron retired in December 2001.
The actual development phase was then led by a full-time computer scientist hired in January 2002, Dr. Bernard Frangoulis, together with a full-time neurologist with competences in epidemiology, Dr. Iuliana Ionescu. Development started in April 2002.
A beta version was presented on the occasion of the ECTRIMS/ACTRIMS congress of September 2002 in Baltimore. The first final version (EDMUS 3.0) was released on the occasion of the ECTRIMS congress of September 2003 in Milan.
Several versions were released in the following years, with many improvements and new functions.
